The first impression is one of the most important things which caused if the job applicant will be taking on or not. At some job positions the first impression is absolutely essential. For example the job position of Sales Representative - the good first impression is absolutely necessary - without this quality that person does not have any chance to achieve professional success. From all above mentioned reasons do not underestimate the first impression.

Literature is not unanimous in the opinion how long the candidate creates the first impression during job interview. Some books state it is no more than 3 - 5 seconds, the others claim it is 20 - 30 seconds and some people even talk about 4 - 5 minutes when the candidate gives the persons opposite the impression of himself.

The First Impression and its Subjectivity

Making a good impression on somebody (primarily on potential employer) is very complicated subject. Sympathy and antipathy are subjective ? what some manager (or boss) likes ? does not have to like the other manager.
